PRESIDENT BIO'S NEW DIRECTION GOV'T FULLFIL MANIFESTO PROMISE IN THE EAST

ANOTHER FULFILMENT OF THE PEOPLE'S MANIFESTO PROMISE OF THE NEW DIRECTION GOVERNMENT OF PRESIDENT BIO.

As payments of Compensation to 130 Project Affected Persons on the Kailahun-Beudu Road of about Le6.0 billion Old Leones starts, the contract between Government of Sierra Leone and Chico Construction Company will be signed next week and work on the road will start immediately.

As he promised at the Kailahun Town Field on his First Presidential visit; HE Bio said he would not only restart the construction of the abandoned Pendembu-Kailahun road, but will continue through Buedu to Koindu.

It could be recalled that this road project was abandoned by the APC-led government of Ernest Bai Koroma.

Former President EBK before 2012 elections promised the people saying: "Kailahun - Koindu road will be tarred under my administration and I will drive my vehicle from Freetown to Koindu if I'm allowed to be voted in as a President of the Republic of Sierra Leone under the umbrella of the APC Party".

Though he was allowed to complete his second term in the office of the presidency, he woefully failed the people of Kailahun, especially the people of the 3 Kisses. It clearly meant that the APC was not and isn't good for themselves or the country.

But with the advent of our Redeemer, developmentally oriented Tok and Do President of the Republic of Sierra Leone Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the Kailahun -Koindu road construction has become a reality with the commencement of the $35 million Kailahun-Beudu road and the already ADB commitment to financing the balance Beudu-Koindu of $35-40 million of grant money, to also include the the construction of Yenga Bridge and the Ultra Modern Koindu Market; indeed President Bio is a Tok n Do President. No runoff come June 24th 2023 general elections.

UNIQUE QUALITIES OF PUJEHUN DISTRICT

Map of Pujehun District showing localities

Unique Qualities About Pujehun District

QUALITY NUMBER ONE:

Pujehun District is perhaps Sierra Leone’s most ethnically diverse district.
Also, the Tiwai Island in Barrie Chiefdom together with Lake Mape and Mabesi are among Africa’s top tourist potentials if developed.

The District has 14 Chiefdoms made up of:
• 5 Krim Chiefdoms (Kpanga, Kabondeh, Kpanga Krim, Yakemo Kpukumu Krim and Mano Sakrim)
• 4 Vai Chiefdoms (SoroGbeima, Gallinas, Perri, and Kpaka Chiefdoms)
• 1 Gola Chiefdom (Makpele),
• 1 Sherbro/Bullom Chiefdom (Malen), and
• 3 Mende Chiefdoms (Barrie, Futa Kpeje, Sowa)
However, all five major ethnicities mentioned above, fused with others such as Fula and Madingo, have been melted into one linguistic pot – that is the Mende Language. So everyone in this District is now Mende speaking.

QUALITY NUMBER TWO:

Pujehun District is perhaps Sierra Leone’s most prosperous district in natural resource endowment and diversity.
This District has:
• Oil/Petroleum – the country’s largest oil pit is around the Sulima Waters
• Diamonds – only in Pujehun is the Gold Color Diamond Found
• Rubber – Pujehun is Sierra Leone’s first district to grow rubber and still maintains fertile lands for growing best grade rubber
• Coffee – among best fertile lands for growing organic coffee
• Oil Palm – among best fertile lands for growing organic oil palm • Cocoa – among best fertile lands for growing organic cocoa
• Fish/Marine Resources
• Tourist Potentials/Tourism Destinations – Lakes, Forests, Wild Life
• Hydro-electric potentials
• Highly educated and skilled indigenes in the diaspora
• Etc

The Gola Forest which Pujehun shares with Liberia is one of Africa’s top 5 biologically diverse forests regarding medicinal plant varieties and wildlife.

Also, the Tiwai Island in Barrie Chiefdom together with Lake Mape and Mabesi are among Africa’s top tourist potentials if developed.

The District also has high river navigation potentials – with the Wanjei, Moa, and Mano Rivers linked to the Atlantic Ocean on one end and to several tributaries that are navigable to several villages and tourism destinations in Sierra Leone and Liberia.

Pujehun District is also home to the Vai Script, Africa’s oldest indigenous form of writing. Pujehun is also home to Sulaimana Ernest Rogers – one of Sierra Leone’s three top legendary musicians – the other two are Salia Koroma and Ebenezer Calendar.
